Eurofase Smart Wi-Fi Controller | EFIKWSM

Eurofase EFIKWSM is the standard Smart Wi-Fi Controller for manufacturer-approved Eurofase infrared patio-heating installations. It supports convenient remote on/off switching, timer operation and HI/LO control where the heater has an approved dual-element wiring scheme. EFIKWSM is a different SKU from the EFIKWSMD Dimmable Smart Wi-Fi Controller; this standard model is not a general-purpose continuously dimmable heater driver.

Why the 30 A / 32 A specification discrepancy matters

Two Eurofase documents for the same EFIKWSM name publish different maximum ratings. The supplier's December 2024 model-specific sheet states 30 A, while the later downloadable installation manual states 32 A. The final equipment nameplate, approved revision, wiring diagram, manufacturer confirmation and electrical-code sizing govern the design. Do not size wiring, switchgear or an EF60 heater group using the higher number based solely on this page. This discrepancy should be resolved with Eurofase before a specific project quote or order.

App-based controls and automatic shut-off

Eurofase describes smartphone on/off switching, scheduling/timer functions, management of multiple units in its app, and staged element selection on compatible dual-element heaters. Managing multiple heating devices in a mobile app is not the same as permission to connect multiple heater loads to one controller output. The automatic shut-off duration differs between Eurofase's published product webpage and installation documents; avoid promising a particular duration until the model revision and firmware are known.

Compatible heaters and electrical design

Manufacturer-approved combinations depend on the heater model, connected elements, simultaneous current, control wiring and circuit layout. For example, a single EF40 240 V 4,000 W load is approximately 16.7 A, whereas a single EF60 240 V 6,000 W load is approximately 25 A. A two-heater system must not be presumed to fit the EFIKWSM output rating. The LP40 is single-element; do not advertise EF40-style HI/LO behaviour for it without a specific approved wiring arrangement.

Installation requires a licensed electrician using a permanent wiring connection, appropriate grounding, conductor and terminal ratings, protected conduits, accessible disconnect means and the full Eurofase model-specific electrical instructions. The manufacturer's manual calls for vertical mounting on a heat-resistant surface and disallows placement within reach of people in pools, showers and other wet areas. Confirm installation site, power, environmental protections and applicable CEC requirements.

Standard versus dimmable Wi-Fi control

Choose EFIKWSM for the approved manufacturer-native on/off and dual-element HI/LO path. For applications requiring variable heat output, compare the EFIKWSMD Dimmable Smart Wi-Fi Controller, which has its own 2026 30 A resistive-load rating, different enclosure and separate installation manual. Do not substitute either controller without comparing exact heater compatibility, output configuration, supply, protections and the project design.

Included equipment and ordering scope

The EFIKWSM installation guide describes the controller, instruction manual and rated connection hardware. The heater, installer-supplied disconnects and additional electrical material are not automatically included. Confirm package contents and current available controller revision at ordering.

Does EFIKWSM provide continuous dimming? No; this model's manufacturer descriptions specify on/off and compatible staged HI/LO control. Choose a suitably approved dimmable controller for proportional adjustment.

Is it safe to connect two EF60 heaters to one controller? Do not assume so. Each EF60 heater has a nominal 25 A load at 240 V; use an appropriate engineered system with manufacturer-verified circuit ratings.

Is the maximum 30 A or 32 A? Both appear in original Eurofase documents. Determine the exact hardware revision and follow the actual rating plate and the manufacturer's instructions before specifying a system.
