Preferred Pro is Lutron’s free professional program for residential contractors. Build skills through Skill-Builder training, log qualifying work, progress through program tiers and use Simply Controlled when you want help turning training into a clean project scope, BOM or quote.

- Training tracks for Bath Solutions, Caséta, RadioRA 3 and Triathlon smart shades.
- No requirement to buy from one distributor; use the authorized channel that works for the project.
Simply Controlled supports the dealer side: training direction, project planning, BOM review, quoting and Canadian fulfillment.
The program
What Preferred Pro is
A Lutron professional program designed to help residential contractors build skills, document their Lutron business and unlock more support as that business grows.
The application is free. Once approved, contractors can use Lutron’s Preferred Pro tools to access training, log installations and purchases, track progress and manage program benefits. Preferred Pro does not create a direct purchasing account with Lutron and it does not require you to buy through one specific distributor.

Qualifying Lutron sales are measured on a rolling 12-month basis
Lutron uses qualifying list-price sales that you log to determine your current program tier.

How dealers receive credit
Different Lutron work is logged in different ways
The important thing is to log the qualifying work so your activity is reflected in the Preferred Pro program.
Systems
Caséta, RA2 Select and RadioRA 3 systems can be logged through Pro Installer Mode or the applicable Lutron design software.
Standalone controls
Eligible dimmers, switches, sensors, fan controls, wallplates and similar products can be documented using an invoice or receipt.
Triathlon shades
Triathlon shade purchases can receive program credit through Lutron’s myLutron quoting and ordering process.
Distributor flexibility
Preferred Pro does not lock you to one distributor. Keep the purchasing relationships that work and use Simply Controlled when we can make a project easier.

Use us when training needs to turn into a real project
We do not run the Preferred Pro program or manage your rewards. We help with the practical dealer work around it.
Send us the project, room, device list or rough BOM. If the BOM is not built yet, send what you have. We can help work through product/application questions, RadioRA 3 scope, shades or Lumaris fit, quoting, availability and Canadian fulfillment.
FAQ
Preferred Pro questions we hear from dealers
Does Preferred Pro let me buy directly from Lutron?
No. Preferred Pro does not change how you purchase Lutron products. Product purchasing still runs through authorized distribution.
Do I have to move my Lutron purchasing to Simply Controlled?
No. Preferred Pro credit is designed so dealers are not disadvantaged by where they buy or what they pay. Use the distributor relationships that work for your business and use Simply Controlled when our project support, availability or quoting is useful.
Do I need Preferred Pro before RadioRA 3 qualification?
Lutron’s current public RadioRA 3 path starts with Preferred Pro, followed by RadioRA 3 qualification training and access to Designer software.
Can Simply Controlled manage my Preferred Pro points or rewards?
No. Program status, rewards, receipt submission and tier benefits are managed through Lutron’s Preferred Pro tools. We can help you understand the project and purchasing workflow, but Lutron remains the source of truth for program administration.
Is Preferred Pro currently available everywhere in Canada?
Lutron’s current public FAQ lists Preferred Pro as available to residential contractors in Canada excluding Quebec. Check Lutron’s current program materials for the latest regional availability.
