Rack-first, high-density distributed audio
Sonos Amp Multi combines eight independently assignable 125W amplified outputs with up to four configurable zones in one fanless, network-connected amplifier. It is designed for professional distributed-audio systems where flexible zone planning, clean rack integration and repeatable commissioning matter.
Best suited to: premium residences, high-zone-count homes, mixed indoor/outdoor audio, MDU projects and light-commercial background-music systems. The Amp Multi Rack Mount is sold separately.
Designed around the realities of professional installation
Eight outputs in one compact chassis
Reduce device count and simplify power, networking and cable management compared with deploying multiple independent stereo amplifiers.
GaN efficiency with no cooling fan
High-efficiency GaN amplification and a thermally optimized chassis enable silent passive-convection cooling with no fan noise, dust intake or fan failure point.
Manual ProTune control per output
Tune each output using a 10-band parametric EQ, gain, delay and high-pass controls to address different rooms, speaker placements and acoustic conditions.
Assign outputs to match the project
Use more outputs in large zones and fewer in smaller rooms. Outputs are not locked into a fixed one-amplifier-per-stereo-zone architecture.
Native app, streaming and partner control
Configure zones, assign outputs, choose sources and monitor status in the Sonos app, with support for AirPlay 2, Spotify Direct Control and compatible control-system integrations.
Optimize Sonos Speakers
When Sonos Architectural speakers are selected in the app, Amp Multi applies purpose-built tuning and DSP for more even response, stable operation and supported low-impedance configurations.
Outputs, zones and streams
Assign the eight amplified outputs across as many as four zones. Each configured zone can operate independently with its own source, playback and volume control. Larger spaces can receive multiple outputs, while smaller spaces can use fewer outputs.
- Per Amp Multi: up to 4 zones
- Sonos system maximum: 32 configured zones
- Example: 8 Amp Multi units configured for 4 zones each equals 32 zones
- Single-zone scaling: up to 16 Amp Multi units in one zone when connected by Ethernet
- Four configured zones can provide four independent streams
- Fewer configured zones produce fewer independent stream destinations
- Sources can include the Sonos app, AirPlay 2, Spotify Direct Control and supported services
- One wireless Sonos Sub can be assigned per zone
- Up to four wireless Sonos Subs total when four zones are configured
- The single RCA subwoofer output can be assigned to one zone for a powered third-party subwoofer
Amp Multi is designed for distributed audio and does not replace an HDMI-equipped Sonos Amp or Sonos soundbar in a television or home-theatre zone. These products can coexist in the same Sonos system.

Rack integration and ventilation+
The amplifier is 2.52 in (64.5 mm) high and is commonly described as an approximately 1.5U device. It can be shelf-mounted where adequate ventilation is available.
The separately sold Rack Mount creates clearance above and below the amplifier in a clean 2U installation, helping maintain airflow without separate vent panels.
Rack Mount SKU: RKMTAWW1BLK · UPC: 840136815587
Allow at least 4 in (10 cm) of clearance above and at the sides when the unit is not installed using the purpose-built Rack Mount.
