Rotel RMB-1506 6-Channel Custom Installation Amplifier
The Rotel RMB-1506 is a 6-channel Class AB amplifier purpose-built for custom installation: multizone distribution, height/width channels, or adding extra amplified channels where an AVR/processor runs out of onboard power. It delivers 50 W/ch into 8 Ω or 80 W/ch into 4 Ω with all channels driven, and adds installer tools like input bussing (channel linking), front-panel attenuation controls, signal sensing auto power, 12V trigger, and a buffered link output for expansion.
Dealer Quick Fit
- Best for: 3-zone stereo distribution (6 channels) or adding surround/height channels in a rack-based theater
- Power: 6 × 50 W/ch (8 Ω, all channels driven) • 6 × 80 W/ch (4 Ω, all channels driven)
- Inputs: 3 × stereo RCA pairs (feeds 6 channels)
- Installer controls: front-panel attenuation controls + rear input linking (bussing)
- Auto power: signal sensing + 12V trigger
- Expansion: buffered RCA link output for daisy-chaining additional amplifiers
- Rack: 3U front-panel height; rack ears included
Why Dealers Care
- Built for zones: straightforward 6-channel layout makes it ideal for three stereo zones without “AVR gymnastics.”
- Gain matching without DSP: front attenuation controls help level-match different rooms, speaker sensitivities, and in-ceiling layouts.
- Simpler routing: input linking lets you feed multiple channel pairs from fewer sources when needed.
- Scales cleanly: buffered link out allows easy expansion to larger multizone systems.
How the Inputs Work (CI-Friendly)
- Input pairs: 3 stereo RCA inputs are intended to feed three amplifier channel pairs (6 channels total).
- Input linking: rear switches can route/bus a source to additional channel pairs when you want shared content across zones.
- Front attenuation: trim each channel pair to match room SPL targets and speaker efficiency.

Installation Notes (What Dealers Need to Know)
- Three-zone planning: allocate each stereo input to a zone, then use front attenuation to match zone loudness targets.
- Signal sense commissioning: set signal-sense behavior based on the source/preamp output level to avoid unwanted sleep/wake cycling.
- Trigger sequencing: use 12V trigger for deterministic on/off in automation systems; use trigger out to cascade additional amps.
- Thermal strategy: treat as a rack component—provide ventilation above/below and avoid blocking airflow paths for long-term reliability.
