Rotel C8+ 8-Channel Custom Installation Power Amplifier
The Rotel C8+ is an 8-channel Class AB custom-install amplifier built for higher-output multi-zone systems and CI racks that need both analog and S/PDIF digital source connectivity. It delivers 100 W/ch into 8 Ω and 150 W/ch into 4 Ω with all channels driven, supports bridged mode for 300 W into 4 Ω, and adds a source-to-zone matrix with front-panel setup/control for fast commissioning.
Dealer Quick Fit
- Best for: high-output multi-zone audio (4 stereo zones) or mixed-use racks (zones + theater height/utility channels)
- Power: 8 × 100 W/ch (8 Ω) • 8 × 150 W/ch (4 Ω) • Bridged: 300 W (4 Ω)
- Source flexibility: 4 × analog stereo inputs + 4 × S/PDIF digital inputs, routed via internal matrix
- Digital decoding: 4 onboard DACs (TI, 24-bit / 192 kHz) supporting S/PDIF up to 192 kHz
- Control: Ethernet (IP control) + RS232 + 12V trigger input
- Priority audio: Priority Zone PA Override for paging/announcement use cases
- Rack: 2U chassis designed for dense rack layouts
Why Dealers Care
- Higher-output zones: 150 W/ch into 4 Ω supports demanding in-wall/in-ceiling arrays and larger rooms.
- Matrix routing built in: route different sources to different zones without external distribution hardware in many installs.
- Digital inputs done right: direct optical/coax source connection avoids external DAC boxes and reduces failure points.
- Bridgeability: use bridged channels for high-power needs (larger zones, patio speakers, or passive subs where appropriate).
- CI control stack: RS232/IP/trigger provide options from basic power sequencing to full automation control.
Inputs, Routing & Zone Model (CI Overview)
- Zones: 4 stereo zones (8 amplifier channels total).
- Matrix: select which source feeds each zone from the chassis (front panel) or via control system (IP/RS232).
- Analog sources: 4 stereo RCA inputs (matrixed).
- Digital sources: 2 optical + 2 coaxial S/PDIF inputs (matrixed), decoded internally via onboard DACs.
- Bridged mode: bridge channel pairs when a zone requires higher power; confirm speaker impedance is compatible before bridging.
- Priority override: PA override can force a priority input to a selected zone for paging/announcements.

Installation Notes (Dealer-Level)
- Zone design: treat as four stereo zones; allocate sources per zone using the internal matrix and verify gain structure using zone trims/settings.
- Bridging best practice: bridge only when the speaker load and wiring are confirmed compatible; label bridged channels clearly for serviceability.
- Digital source hygiene: keep optical/coax runs within best practices and confirm stable S/PDIF lock before leaving site.
- Control-system choice: use IP control for modern automation stacks; use RS232 where deterministic serial control is preferred.
- Thermal planning: 2U density is rack-friendly—still confirm airflow strategy for sustained multi-zone duty cycles.
- Paging / priority: enable PA override only on the zones that require announcement priority to avoid unintended takeovers.
