Monitor Audio C165-T2 is a passive, dual-channel stereo in-ceiling loudspeaker designed to reproduce left and right programme channels from one physical ceiling speaker. A 6.5-inch MMP II dual-wound voice-coil bass driver is paired with two independent, pivoting 1-inch C-CAM Gold Dome tweeters, allowing one ceiling opening to provide stereo coverage where a conventional pair is impractical.

It is sold as a single speaker with a white round grille. The current manufacturer specification publishes a 60 Hz–25 kHz frequency response, 88.5 dB sensitivity at 1 W / 1 m, 107.9 dBA maximum SPL and 65 W RMS power handling.

One speaker opening, two stereo channels

The defining feature of C165-T2 is its dual-channel architecture. The bass driver uses a dual-wound voice coil and the speaker carries two independently operating pivoting tweeters, allowing left and right audio information to be reproduced from one installed unit.

Single unit does not mean mono. The product quantity is one physical speaker, but the electrical and acoustic design is intended for stereo. Plan two-channel cabling and amplification to the ceiling location rather than treating C165-T2 as a conventional one-channel C165.

Where the T2 format is useful

Monitor Audio specifically positions C165-T2 for spaces where there is not enough room for a normal stereo pair, citing locations such as bathrooms and hallways. Its single-opening format can also be useful wherever room geometry, ceiling features or available speaker positions make left/right symmetry difficult.

The current C165-T2 specification does not publish an IP ingress-protection rating. Any installation in a moisture-prone location still has to comply with the actual environmental exposure and applicable electrical / building requirements.

Independent pivoting tweeters

Each of the two 1-inch C-CAM Gold Dome tweeters can be pivoted, helping direct the high-frequency output of the two stereo channels toward the intended listening area. This is particularly useful when the physical ceiling position is dictated by joists, lighting, HVAC or other architectural constraints.

Amplifier and wiring requirements

C165-T2 is specified at 6 + 6 ohms, reflecting its dual-channel architecture. Monitor Audio publishes 65 W RMS power handling and recommends 20–65 W amplification.

Because two channels feed one physical speaker location, cable planning is materially different from a normal mono in-ceiling speaker. Follow the manufacturer's channel identification and wiring instructions and keep the left and right programme paths distinct.

The exact current manufacturer page identifies CB6 as the C165-T2 pre-construction bracket and CCBOX-R / CMBOX-R as its back-box references. Those exact model-specific references control this PDP even where broader commercial compatibility tables contain other family-level accessory mappings.

Monitor Audio also supports optional square and premium grille formats. Current Canadian compatibility data includes square / alternate grille references for the C165 family, but accessory availability should be confirmed separately from the speaker.

C165 or C165-T2?

Choose C165 when one ceiling location represents one audio channel. Choose C165-T2 when one physical opening must reproduce both stereo channels.

Identity note: the customer-facing model is C165-T2, while the approved Canadian sellable SKU / MPN is CC165T2. They identify the same product.
