Active POE-Jack® In-Wall Switch | 4-Port Gigabit Wall Plate
The APOEJK2-WH is an Active POE-Jack® in-wall switch that takes one PoE uplink on the rear and breaks it out to four front-facing Gigabit ports in a screwless wall plate. It is built around an IEEE 802.3bt Type 4 Class 8 uplink (up to 95W) and is designed to power multiple PoE/PoE+ devices at the convergent edge of a GRID DC microgrid.
Instead of home-running several drops to the rack, you run a single Cat6e/Cat6A cable to APOEJK2-WH and fan out to workstations, phones, APs or small PoE endpoints locally—reducing copper, pathway size and visible hardware.
Key features
- 4-port Gigabit in-wall switch with rear PoE uplink.
- IEEE 802.3bt Type 4 Class 8 PoE uplink – up to 95W PoE input.
-
PoE / PoE+ fan-out:
- Power up to four IEEE 802.3af PoE devices (Class 0–3).
- Power up to four IEEE 802.3at Type 1 PoE+ devices (Class 0–3).
- Power up to three IEEE 802.3at Type 2 PoE+ devices (Class 4).
- 60W available from output ports (within a 95W maximum PoE input budget).
- Gigabit uplink & Gigabit ports for data.
- Screwless faceplate for a clean, modern aesthetic.
- Single-signature PoE behavior on the uplink.
- Operating temperature approx. -10°C to +45°C; humidity 5%–90% (per catalog).
- Input voltage range 44–56V via uplink port.
- Listings: cETLus, FCC, CE, RCM, EMC, LVD, ISED, RoHS (per catalog).

Ideal applications
- Replacing four home-run drops with one Active POE-Jack® in-wall switch at each workstation cluster.
- Powering mixed PoE devices (phones, APs, cameras, thin clients) from a single PoE uplink.
- Smart offices, schools and clinics targeting LEED-aligned low-voltage designs.
- Renovations where adding more rack space or conduit is difficult, but you still need more edge ports.
Compatibility & ecosystem
APOEJK2-WH is central to GRID’s convergent edge concept. It is designed to be fed from PoE++ switches such as the POEJK-S48-3600, POEJK-S48-740 or POEJK-S48-750E over Cat6e (POEJC6E-CMP) or Cat6A (POEJC6A-CMP) cabling. It works with standard PoE/PoE+ devices on the front ports while helping you collapse copper and centralize DC power.
Install & design notes
- Ensure the upstream PoE source can provide an IEEE 802.3bt Type 4 Class 8 feed (for full 95W input capability).
- Design within the 60W output budget for the four front ports.
- Any ports with no remaining PoE budget will still pass Ethernet data without PoE.
- Respect the published temperature and humidity ranges and install in suitable wall boxes.
Canada-ready checklist
- ✓ cETLus listing for Canadian low-voltage projects.
- ✓ Strong fit for Canadian offices, education, healthcare and multi-tenant buildings transitioning to PoE-centric infrastructure.
- ✓ Helps reduce copper and AC outlets in occupied spaces, supporting sustainability goals.
Compatibility micro Q&A
How many devices can I power from APOEJK2-WH?
Within budget, up to four 802.3af devices, four 802.3at Type 1 devices, or three 802.3at Type 2 devices, as detailed in the GRID catalog’s PoE examples.
What happens when the PoE budget is fully used?
Remaining ports will continue to pass Ethernet data only without PoE power.
Specifications and capabilities are subject to change. Always verify with the latest GRID documentation before design or tender.
