Monitor Audio SB-2 is a passive three-channel L/C/R soundbar that combines the front-left, centre and front-right loudspeakers of a home-theatre system into one slim cabinet. It is sold as a single soundbar and requires external amplification for all three channels; it does not contain an HDMI input, eARC interface, wireless amplifier or built-in surround processor.
Monitor Audio designs the compact SB-2 to integrate visually with approximately 50–60 inch televisions. Inside the 1110 mm-wide cabinet are three independent driver arrays—one each for Left, Centre and Right—with a 4-inch C-CAM bass/mid driver, 1-inch C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter and Auxiliary Bass Radiator for each channel.

Passive soundbar — not a powered TV soundbar
The word passive is fundamental to understanding SB-2. The cabinet contains loudspeaker drivers and crossover / loading components, but it does not contain its own power amplifiers or consumer-TV connection electronics.
An AV receiver or suitable multichannel amplifier supplies the Left, Centre and Right signals independently. Treat the SB-2 as three conventional front loudspeakers packaged into one enclosure rather than as a powered HDMI/eARC soundbar.
Three discrete L/C/R arrays in one cabinet
SB-2 contains three separate driver groups. Each front channel receives its own 4-inch C-CAM bass/mid driver, 1-inch C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter and Auxiliary Bass Radiator. This preserves distinct Left, Centre and Right programme channels while reducing the visible number of speaker cabinets around the screen.
The centre array is therefore a real discrete centre channel, not a virtual or DSP-generated centre image.
Auxiliary Bass Radiator loading
Each channel uses an Auxiliary Bass Radiator (ABR). The passive radiator responds to internal cabinet pressure generated by the active bass/mid driver, supporting low-frequency output without using a conventional open bass-reflex port.
Monitor Audio publishes a 90 Hz–30 kHz frequency response at -3 dB, making system bass management an important part of integration when deeper low-frequency reproduction is required.
Subwoofer and high-pass configuration
Monitor Audio publishes two different power-handling figures for SB-2 and they should not be confused:

The higher 100 W system figure is conditional on filtering deep bass away from the SB-2. This is why pairing the soundbar with a subwoofer and applying appropriate bass management can increase the usable system power envelope. Monitor Audio publishes a crossover range of 80–120 Hz.
The final crossover should be established in the AV receiver / processor for the actual room, subwoofer and listening requirements; 100 Hz is specifically the filter condition attached to the manufacturer's 100 W system-handling figure.
Amplifier matching
SB-2 is specified at 8 ohms nominal and Monitor Audio publishes a recommended amplifier range of 30–100 W. Because the enclosure contains three discrete L/C/R channels, the receiver or amplifier must provide separate amplification for those channels.
The current manufacturer specification does not publish a minimum-impedance figure, so one is not inferred.

Placement and wall mounting
Integrated sealed silicone feet provide a secure furniture / cabinet-top placement option. Monitor Audio also supports an optional dedicated wall-mount bracket.
The current public SB-2 specification labels the bracket as BSB. Current Canadian commercial compatibility data separately references BASB2 for SB-2, SB-3 and SB-4 and explicitly states that the wall-mount bracket is not included with the soundbar. The bracket is therefore treated as an optional installation accessory rather than part of the standard box contents.

Warranty
Monitor Audio's current product data support a Lifetime Warranty for SB-2. This current term supersedes older internal material that listed a shorter warranty.
