Monitor Audio Vestra W10 is a compact active sealed subwoofer built around a 10-inch C-CAM high linear-excursion driver and an integrated 250 W high-efficiency Class-D amplifier. It is sold as a single powered subwoofer, with Matte Black and Matte White finish variants.

Monitor Audio publishes an in-room response of 19–200 Hz (-6 dB) and a 111 dB maximum usable peak SPL. DSP provides three EQ presets—Impact, Movie and Music—while stereo RCA, LFE RCA and 12 V trigger connectivity make the W10 suitable for both two-channel and home-theatre systems.

Active subwoofer — amplification is built in

Unlike the passive loudspeakers in the Monitor Audio catalog, Vestra W10 contains its own power amplifier. The current manufacturer specification labels the amplifier output as 250 W instantaneous RMS and classifies the amplifier as high-efficiency Class-D.

This 250 W figure is built-in amplifier output. It should not be mapped to passive-speaker power handling, recommended external amplifier power or any of the wattage fields used for products such as Bronze 50 or Studio 89.

10-inch C-CAM high-excursion driver

The W10 uses a 10-inch C-CAM high linear-excursion driver. The high-excursion suspension allows substantial cone movement for low-frequency reproduction, while the Ceramic-Coated Aluminium Magnesium diaphragm provides the rigid driver surface used throughout Monitor Audio's C-CAM platform.

The driver operates in a sealed enclosure. There is no open bass-reflex port or port-tuning frequency to account for in positioning.

The presets are fixed manufacturer modes rather than a claim of automatic room correction. Monitor Audio does not describe the W10 as containing microphone-based room-EQ calibration, so none is implied here.

Low-pass and phase controls

The W10 provides a published 32–200 Hz low-pass filter range (-6 dB) and a 0° / 180° phase toggle. These controls help integrate the subwoofer with the main loudspeakers and room.

When the LFE input is used with an AV receiver or processor, crossover / bass-management responsibilities may also be handled upstream by those electronics. Follow the system electronics' setup requirements rather than applying two conflicting crossover strategies.

Inputs and system integration

The stereo RCA input supports conventional line-level two-channel integration, while the dedicated LFE input provides the usual connection path from an AV receiver / processor subwoofer output. The 12 V trigger can be used where the partnering electronics provide a compatible trigger output.

Automatic signal sensing

Vestra W10 includes automatic music sensing. Monitor Audio publishes Auto On when line level exceeds 3 mV and Auto Standby after 20 minutes without the required signal condition.

This allows the subwoofer to manage normal wake / standby behaviour without requiring the user to operate the rear power controls for every listening session.

Subwoofer placement

Monitor Audio does not prescribe one universal “best” subwoofer position because low-frequency room modes can create strong peaks and nulls. Its current guidance recommends experimentation rather than choosing a location only because the cabinet physically fits there.

A practical starting point is along the same wall as the main loudspeakers, then test alternate locations. Monitor Audio specifically cautions that pushing a subwoofer tightly against a wall or into a corner can increase bass output but may also reduce definition by exciting room modes. Pulling the subwoofer away from boundaries can improve smoothness in some rooms.

For difficult rooms, Monitor Audio also recommends the well-known subwoofer crawl: temporarily place the subwoofer at the listening position, play consistent bass content, listen around likely placement locations, and move the subwoofer to the position that produces the most even result.

Using one or multiple W10 subwoofers

Monitor Audio explicitly supports Vestra W10 as either a single subwoofer or in multiples. Multiple subwoofers can be used to improve bass consistency across a larger or irregular listening area when the overall electronics and room layout support that approach.

This does not imply a built-in daisy-chain feature or a fixed maximum subwoofer count. A copied Canadian retail feature line referenced “up to 4 Anthra subwoofers”; that wording belongs to another product family and is intentionally not treated as Vestra W10 technical truth.
