For mechanical fiber connectors (SF-LCPMM1-10, SF-SCPMM1-10), a clean cleave angle of ?1° is the primary determinant of insertion loss. Poor cleaves produce high-loss connectors that fail insertion loss testing — requiring re-termination and wasting connectors. The SF-FCMC's precision blade produces consistent, flat cleave faces that meet the ?0.5° cleave angle requirement for low-loss mechanical and fusion splice terminations.

A precision cleaver is required for SimplyFIBER mechanical connectors (SF-LCPMM1-10, SF-SCPMM1-10). The SF-FCMC is SimplyFIBER's own precision cleaver and is the recommended tool for use with these connectors. Any precision cleaver producing a ?1° cleave angle is technically compatible.
When does the blade need to be replaced?
